Here is the video :

And Jimmy answered with this one :

Disconnect to connect

Have a look at this advertisement of Dtac, a Telecom company in Thailand. Rethink Renny Gleeson's word in his TED talk that we saw in today's class (I hope it won't matter for Group A, will it, James?):

How to go viral?

NOTICE: This video is going to be viral on the internet!

Jenifer Aniston is starring in the last ad from Smartwater. She does everything she can to makethe video viral. That includes dancing with babies, talking to the double rainbow (crazy) man or to Keenan Cahill, the famous lip syncing guy!
Have fun watching the video;)

Rate-your-company startup Glassdoor raises $12M

Rate-your-company startup Glassdoor raises $12M: "Rate-your-company startup Glassdoor"

"Glassdoor, a site where users can share details about their jobs, their companies, and their salaries, has raised $12 million in its third round of funding.

It has been more than a year since we last wrote about Glassdoor, but the Sausalito, Calif. company says its traffic grew 147 percent in 2010 and that it now receives 3.5 million unique visitors every month.

In order to get access to most of the data in Glassdoor, users have to contribute some job-related information of their own, which helps ensure that the data keeps growing. Besides company reviews and salary data, users can also share job interview questions, office photos, and CEO ratings. Glassdoor says it has information on 110,000 companies in more than 110 countries."

A good place to get inside information about companies and interviews... Hope you're all doing well! See you next month!

My top 10 Chinese Restaurants in Paris

As promised, I am writing a list of Chinese restaurants in Paris that I go to frequently and highly recommend. I can assure you, what you are going to taste in these restaurants is mostly comparable to what you can find in China, not the best though, but satisfying enough.
Personally I prefer spicy food. If you don’t share my taste, don’t worry, you can still find many delicious but mild dishes in the following top 10. And the great thing about going to Chinese restaurants in Paris is that you can enjoy good dishes with quite modest prices most of the time. So don’t hesitate to have a try.
gh-08
L’Orient d’Or 福源丰
Address: 22, Rue de Trévise, 75009 Paris
Metro: Cadet@M7, Grand boulvard@M8/M9
Tel: 01 48 00 07 73
Hours: 12:00-14:3019:00-22:30, Monday closed
Comments: Yep, let’s begin with the hot spicy Hunan cuisine from my home town. You will find delicately prepared dishes here with lovely decorations. Don’t miss the shredded cabbages in a hot pot that you can find almost on every guest’s table. General Tso’s chicken and Chairman Mao’s red-braised pork, these two very famous dishes here are only available when you order them ahead of time. (They take a long time to prepare).
1367396_100925218254_2
Le Céleste Gourmand 福来居
Address: 8, Rue de la Tacherie, 75004 Paris
Metro: Hôtel de Ville@M1/M11, Sortie N°3
Tel: 01 44 59 37 68
Hours: Mon 18:30-22:30, Tue-Sun 12:00-14:30 18:30-22:30
Comments: the cook of this restaurant used to be the second cook of L’Orient d’Or. So you will find their menus are very similar. Personally I prefer this one. The price is slightly lower than the former and you will find more food in your dish. Ask the waiter about how spicy your dish will be. It can be extremely hot!
An Li 安里
Address: 46, Rue Richer, 75009 Paris
Metro: Cadet@M7, Grand boulvard@M8/M9
Tel: 1 42 46 43 09
Hours: 12:00-14:30 19:00-22:30
Comment: If you are looking for a real Beijing hot pot(chinese fondue), An Li is the only restaurant you should go to in Paris. In a very intellectually decorated environment, you will see the charm of the famous instant-boiled mutton of Beijing.
20090615034015745
Carnet de Voyage 云南三和食府
Address: 4, RUE DE BUDAPEST,75009 PARIS
Metro: Saint-Lazare@M3/M13/M14/RER E
Hours: Sun 18:30-22:30, Mon-Sat 11:00-15:00 18:30-22:30
Tel: 01 48 78 24 50 / 01 48 78 41 62
Comment: Cuisine of the southern region of China. Their specialty is a wok of light beef soup with a slight fire under it to keep it boiling, which looks like the hot pot, but is actually a special dish from Yunnan, one of the southern most provinces of China. Don’t miss the Crossing the bridge noodles, which is always served with the hot soup. You can find several explanations of the origin of its interesting name from wiki.
Restaurant le Lac de l’Ouest 家常菜馆
Address: 7 rue volta 75003 Paris
Metro: Art-et-Metiers@M3/M11
Tel: 01 42 77 30 82
Hours: Mon Wed Fri 18:00-22:30, Tus Thu Sat Sun 12:00-14:30 18:00-22:30
Comment: it’s a very small restaurant. So only gourmets come to taste its Boiled Beef in Fiery Sauce. Traditionally it's a dish of Szechuan cuisine, but at Restaurant le Lac de l’Ouest, the cook inventively turns it into a dish of Zhejiang cuisine, which is less spicy. But the freshness and delicateness of the beef are preserved.
20081208093404
Li Ka Fu 利口福
Address: 39, AV DE CHOISY, 75013 PARIS
Metro: PORTE DE CHOISY@M7
Tel: 01 45 84 20 45
Hours: all time (24 - 7?)
Comment: There are many Cantonese restaurants in Paris. Li Ka Fu is absolutely my favorite. I recommend Crab spinach soup, Spareribs with black bean sauce and Cassolette of rice with all kinds of meat.
xin_451204101042250505122
Noodle Bar 海记面食
Address: 31 bis,rue nationale, 75013 Paris
Metro: Olympiades@M14, Porte d’Ivry@M7
Tel: 0144238574
Hours: 11:30-15:00 18:30-23:00, Thursday closed
Comment: My favorite noodle restaurant. You will find a great variety of noodles and fried rice. Their cold dishes are quite pleasant. I recommend the fresh fruit juice too. They even have durian juice milk.
Restaurant Chez Yong 鼎鼎香私房菜
Address: 72, Rue de la Colonie, 75013 Paris
Metro: Maison Blanch@M7, Sortie N°4
Tel: 01 45 65 17 88
Hours: 12:00-14:30 19:00-23:00, Monday closed
Comment: A very good Chinese restaurant close to Telecom ParisTech. The cuisine comes from both the Tsechuan and Shandong provinces which means that you can find two different styles there. The Chinese steamed bread is very popular as a staple food among their French customers.
Restaurant Chez Dong 天天旺
Address: 82 rue baudricourt, 75013 Paris
Metro: Maison Blanche ,Tolbiac, Porte de Choisy@M7
Tel: 01 45 86 63 86/09 51 84 60 88
Hours: 12:00-14:30 19:00-23:00, closed in the afternoons of Tuesday and Wednesday
Comment: They must have a great cook or, rather several, great cooks. It’s always crowded… A huge collection of classical Tsechuan cuisine is ready for you to choose from. You wouldn’t like to miss Chuanr – a Chinese Kebab, a Xinjiang Cuisine dish that is loved all over China.
123(5)
Autour du Yangtse 食尚煮意
Address: 201 AV CHOISY 75013 PARIS
Metro: Place d’italie@M6/M7
Tel: 0145840081
Hours: 12h00-14h30,19h00-23h30, Thursday closed
Comment: Ready for some Shanghai Food? You can begin with some Xiaolongbao – soup dumplings. I highly recommend the Plum Duck, which is a great example of a deliciously flavored Chinese dish. They also provide various fresh sweet drinks.

In technology, the year 2010 started with a bang, as Apple introduced its "iPod touch on steroids" -- the iPad. Twelve months later, Google grabbed our attention with Chrome OS and its promise to make the computing experience faster, seamless and personal. Yet neither tech giant could deliver quite the goods to webify our TVs and livingrooms. In the intervening months, Microsoft tried a smartphone comeback with Windows Phone 7 while moving forward with Silverlight and getting the rest of us moving with Xbox Kinect. Android was, well, everywhere; while the Sun finally set inside the Oracle empire.
These were the 20 most popular blog posts of 2010. Elsewhere in this Special Report, you'll find our bloggers' looking back and ahead, favorite galleries, and much more."

Nancy Dusarte's 5 Rules for Creating Great Presentations

I would like to share with you the website of Nancy Dusarte, who changed the slides Al Gore had originally into the documentary slide show known as An Inconvenient Truth. You can find many good examples of great presentations and some useful guidelines about what's good or bad for a presentation. I pick up here one of her instructions about 5 Rules for Creating Great Presentations, which I found very useful:

"In this talk from TED University 2009, veteran rock climber Matthew Childs shares nine pointers for rock climbing. These handy tips bear on an effective life at sea level, too."

Get out of your man box

At TEDWomen, Tony Porter makes a call to men everywhere: Don't "act like a man." Telling powerful stories from his own life, he shows how this mentality, drummed into so many men and boys, can lead men to disrespect, mistreat and abuse women and each other. His solution: Break free of the "man box."

The end of men

Hanna Rosin reviews startling new data that shows women actually surpassing men in several important measures, such as college graduation rates. Do these trends, both US-centric and global, signal the "end of men"? Probably not -- but they point toward an important societal shift worth deep discussion.

What a better idea for a first post to our blog than sharing a TedTalk that I had never seen and discovered thanks to the MNT "IT in English" group.

The "Marshmellow Problem" was something I had heard about but didn't know about the TedTalk presenting it!

I'm sure that of the 700 TedTalks already online there are many that members of our MNT English groups can share and help the others discover....

Here's the Marshmellow Problem...
